The Period Bank Initiative

Period Education

We believe that period education should be simple, honest, and shame-free. We visit schools and communities to talk openly about menstrual health, body safety, and the things young girls wish they knew earlier. This education includes boys too, because ending stigma means everyone must understand and respect periods.

Period Products Donation

Pads are not a luxury—they are a basic need. We provide free, safe, and skin-friendly pads to girls who cannot afford them, so they can manage their periods with dignity. No girl should have to miss school or feel ashamed because of something so natural.

Advocacy through Partnerships

We are not doing this work alone. We partner with schools, youth clubs, community leaders, and organisations to ensure periods are talked about, respected, and supported at every level. If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes the same to achieve period equity.

Join the Movement for Menstrual Dignity

At the Period Bank Initiative, we believe that creating lasting change for girls requires collective effort. That is why we welcome partnerships with organisations and individuals who are passionate about menstrual equity, education, and impact.

We have proudly worked with partners like the Coca-Cola Foundation, African Impact Initiative (Canada), and AL for Health (South Africa) to reach more girls and expand our programs. If your company is looking for meaningful CSR opportunities, we would love to collaborate to make a difference—one girl, one school, one community at a time.

Our Vision

To build strong and resilient communities where every girl has the freedom to manage her period with dignity—through stigma-free communities, equal access to safe menstrual products, and inclusive health education.

Our Mission

We are on a mission to increase period dignity by providing free sanitary products to girls who need them most, delivering honest and age-appropriate menstrual health education, and creating safe spaces where girls and boys can learn without shame. Through partnerships and community engagement, we work to end period poverty and break the silence around menstruation.

Why the Period Bank Initiative Exists

“My parents cannot afford to give us money to buy pad. Any time I am on my period, I use my food money to buy pads… I have to starve during my menstrual cycle.”

Sarah Thomas

“Maintaining good menstrual hygiene enables me to be healthy, to be able to play with girls my age, and to be able to go to school.”
